Under the Mountain XIII is part of a new series of paintings that were made as part of an online course I completed over 3 months in 2021. The series of paintings are all 30x30cm and were divided into sets of 3. Each set is based on a drawing made from life of my studio view. I experimented with abstraction, colour, mark-making and texture, through successive layers building the image over many weeks. The mountain is Mount Lawson in SE Queensland which dominates the valley I love to call home.
