Original acrylic painting, 40x40x4cm, on ply cradled panel, sealed with a gloss finish,handwaxed for a satin finish, framed in meranti ( hardwood) float frame, handsanded and waxed, D rings and wire attached, ready to hang. Final framed size 41x41x7cm.
This series of paintings were painted en plein air at The Acres, a flower farm in Camp Mountain, northwest of Brisbane. This collection is the body of work completed during the first 6 months of my artist's residency.
I spent 2 or 3 days a week at the farm drawing or painting en plein air, commencing in May 2023. The Acres is a working farm which supplies flowers to wholesalers and Rusty Bucket Floristry in Samford Village. The business and labour of preparation, planting, nurturing and harvesting were fascinating, producing an ever-evolving muse of growth, blossoming and replenishment. The changing light as the year progressed and weather cycles contributed to the shifting moods and motifs of the landscape
